Ballard Technology is looking for a hands-on and experienced Electronics Production Lead who will work with and direct a small team responsible for the production of Ballard's products. Our production is high mix and low volume, so workers must be detail oriented and comfortable multitasking and working under pressure from multiple priorities. Ballard is AS9100/ ISO9001 certified, and workers must understand and perform according to strict quality standards.

Production responsibilities: Candidates for this position must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following electronic production tasks. The Electronics Production Lead must lead by example and will personally perform these tasks.

• Electronic assembly and testing
• Fine pitch soldering and rework
• Mechanical assembly
• Product inspection and quality control
• Inventory control
• Building product per documentation
• Shipping and receiving
• Other tasks as required

Leadership responsibilities: The Electronics Production Lead will ensure that quality and production goals are met and will be the primary interface between the production team and the planners, manufacturing engineers, and management. Besides the production activities listed above, the Electronics Production Lead will provide leadership in the following areas:

• Coordinate department activities and work load
• Oversee the team's work pace and schedule
• Provide cross training and backup
• Ensure compliance with quality requirements
• Recommend process improvements
• Monitor documentation and suggest improvements

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma - further education such as technical school, associate degree or equivalent in electronics, manufacturing or related area is desirable
• 8 years electronics industry experience, preferably in aerospace technology
• 3 years in a production leadership role
• Strong understanding of procedural and documentation concepts
• Working with ERP/MRP systems (Ballard utilizes SYSPRO)
• Working under a quality system (AS9100, ISO9000, or FAA).
• Proficient in electronics inspection standards
• Knowledge of component handling, identification and ESD precautions.
• Typing and computer proficient
• Strong verbal and written communication in English
• Must be able to work standing up for long periods at a time

Ballard Technology is seeking engineering consultants for new product development. Either part time/temporary employment or an independent contract relationship will be considered.
