Description
An OmniBus part number is a combination of two to four elements separated by dashes ("-") or a forward slash ("/"): form factor, protocol module(s), CoPilot code, and user specified options. The CoPilot code and user specified options are optional.

CoPilot Code
When CoPilot is bundled with an OmniBus board the part number begins with a "CS" or "CP". The "CS" and "CP" CoPilot codes distinguish between CoPilot Standard and Plus enabling keys. If CoPilot is not included, the part number begins with the form factor identifier. CoPilot software is not required to configure and control Ballard's interface products.

Form Factor
Ballard's OmniBus products are available in PCI, cPCI, PMC, VME, and OmniBusBox form factors, represented by 11x, 12x, 14x, 15x, and 162, respectively. Refer to the OmniBus Part Number Breakdown tables for more information on OmniBus form factors.

Protocol Modules
Protocol modules specify protocols, channel counts, and functionality. Click here for OmniBus protocol module order rules.
1. MIL-STD-1553 (highest level of functionality to lowest level of functionality)
2. ARINC 429/717, CSDB, and Serial (parametric capable to non-parametric capable, then highest channel count to lowest channel count)
3. ARINC 708 (parametric capable to non-parametric capable, then highest channel count to lowest channel count)
4. Use "000" to specify a core location that will not be populated with a protocol module.
Refer to the OmniBus Part Number Breakdown tables for more information on OmniBus protocol modules.

Options
Options are preceded by a "/" and are always listed at the end of the part number. Each options starts with a "/". If the Option starts with /A, /B, /C, or /D then it applies only to that core. Otherwise it applies to the full part number. Refer to the OmniBus Part Number Breakdown tables for more information on OmniBus options.

MIL-STD-1553 Protocol Modules
5xy
The symbols "x" and "y" represent the MIL-STD-1553 channels of the module, where "x" is the first channel and "y" is the second. The highest level of functionality always occupies "x" and a single channel MIL-STD-1553 protocol module is represented as "5x0".
MIL-STD-1553 Functionality
- 0 Unused
- 1 Level "A" - BC, RT, or Bus Monitor
- 2 Level "B4" - BC and RTs (up to 4 simultaneous terminals) or Bus Monitor
- 3 Level "B32" - BC and RTs (up to 32 simultaneous terminals) or Bus Monitor
- 4 Level "C" - BC and RTs (up to 32 simultaneous terminals) with concurrent Bus Monitor and protocol error injection
- 5 Level "D" - BC and RTs (up to 32 simultaneous terminals) with concurrent Bus Monitor, protocol error injection, variable transmit amplitude, and zero crossing distortion
