Each has an internal PMC site that can be populated to adapt the functionality of the device to applications requiring other types of I/O, additional channels, or special capabilites.
Ballard will install and test any of the PMC expansion cards shown below. If you don't see what you need, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Add managed or unmanaged Ethernet switching with this PMC card. It provides a direct port to the internal processor and 9 external ports. By sharing the case, power
supply, and footprint, the AB2000/AB3000 with Ethernet switch is a cost-effective alternative to a separate Ethernet switch box.
For applications that only require Ethernet switching, Ballard also offers a rugged, stand-alone Ethernet switch box.

Add 4 high speed synchronous serial data communication channels with this PMC card. Several serial communication protocols are supported by each
channel, including synchronous, asynchronous, isochronous and HDLC mode. Synchronous data rates are up to 10 Mbit/s (non-DPLL modes) and 2 Mbit/s (DPLL modes).

|
Add 8 additional channels of high performance programmable asynchronous serial I/O with this PMC card. Each serial channel can be individually programmed to operate as RS232, RS422 or RS485 with
full duplex/half duplex interface.

| |
|
Add 2 complete CAN bus controllers with this PMC card. Both channels are fully independent and support standard as well as extended frames according to CAN
specification 2.0 part A and B. Each physical interface is optically isolated from the CAN controller.

AB2000 and AB3000 models are available with a selection of protocols (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 717 and ARINC 708) and channel counts. Add even more channels with the Mx5 Series PMC card.
Contact us for more information on available channel counts and protocol combinations when installed in the AB2000/AB3000.
