ARINC 717 Features The LC429-3/717 is a CompactPCI card with receivers and transmitters for both ARINC 429 and ARINC 717. The LC429-3/717 receives and transmits Harvard biphase signals for communication with a DFDAU or DFDR. The two biphase channels can be configured in software as receivers or transmitters. In addition, a separate bipolar receiver and transmitter pair is provided for simulating or receiving data from the Quick Access Recorder (QAR) port. All four ARINC 717 channels can operate at bus speeds from 64 to 8192 words per second.
The 717 Monitor, a Windows® program, is provided for viewing the ARINC 717 data. This easy-to-use program allows the user to configure the hardware (set speed, location of sync words, etc.) and select a given word for viewing. The word is displayed in binary and octal form, and an indication of sync status is given. Subframes and superframes are supported.
ARINC 429 Features The LC429-3/717 supports concurrent interface with four ARINC 429 databuses. The four ARINC 429 channels can be easily configured to automatically transmit and receive labels (ARINC 429 words) while saving a time-tagged sequential record of the activity. The host computer can read or write data at any time without disrupting LC429-3/717 operations. Transmissions are automatically maintained at the specified transmit intervals and may include concurrent aperiodic labels for file data transfer protocols. Received data are filtered by label/SDI and saved according to user specifications.
The powerful graphical program called CoPilot 429 is available separately or bundled as part of a CoPilot 429 system. With CoPilot 429, users can send and receive messages, handle data in engineering units, create or display data through virtual instruments and view a sequential record - without programming.
Powerful Troubleshooting Tool The LC429-3/717 is ideal for troubleshooting Flight Data Recorders, for testing on an ARINC 429 databus or for testing avionics systems involving simultaneous transmission over both ARINC 429 and ARINC 717 databuses. This board is also available with ARINC 429 and 717 in a PCI (LP429-3/717), a PCMCIA (CM429-1/717), or a USB (BUSBox) version or as a CompactPCI card without ARINC 717 capability (LC429-3). Ballard Technology's HT717-1 terminal is a convenient, self contained, handheld tester designed for test and maintenance of aircraft systems.
