The PC-SSB-1 is a low cost interface between a dual-redundant space shuttle cargo bay databus (MIA) and an IBM PC/AT (ISA) or compatible personal computer. It can operate as a bus controller or as a limited remote terminal. The bus controller can also simulate the remote terminal response. An independent monitor mode can operate simultaneously with the bus controller and remote terminal modes, moving data to a dedicated monitor memory. I/O mapped control and status registers are used to configure the card and to read its status. Data are moved to and from the board through an 8K byte dual port RAM, which is split between terminal memory and monitor memory. A library of C-language driver functions with source code is provided to simplify software development for the PC-SSB-1. A special PC-SSB-1 debug program is also included.
