MIL-STD-1553 Interface Products
Ballard MIL-STD-1553 products include cards for a variety of computer platforms, self-contained interfaces controlled over USB or Ethernet, and associated software tools. These products can be quickly integrated into computer-based systems to provide MIL-STD-1553 operational and testing capability. As operational equipment they supply the communications and protocol handling required by MIL-STD-1553. As test equipment, they are used for evaluation, simulation, monitoring, and analysis of MIL-STD-1553 components and systems. Ballard's extensive software tools and support simplify and facilitate development, operation, and maintenance of the system. Ballard's line of MIL-STD-1553 products offers extensive choices of platforms, functionality, and channel counts.

Multi-Protocol products are capable of concurrently hosting more than one avionics protocol on a single product.
The USB 1553 is a highly portable USB 2.0 compliant device for communicating with MIL-STD-1553 systems. These USB devices offer 1 or 2 dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553 channels, 8 input/output avionics level discretes, and IRIG time synchronization/generation. All power necessary for operation is provided via the USB port. The USB 1553 is small, lightweight, and rugged and is the IDEAL replacement for PCMCIA applications!

Older products are classified as legacy if they are still in limited production. Most legacy products have a more modern alternative and should be not be designed into or used on new programs. Legacy products are subject to parts obsolescence and may become unavailable with little or no notice. Legacy products have a limited one year warranty.
Products are classified as obsolete when they are no longer in production either because there is no longer a demand for them or because parts to produce them are no longer available. Obsolete products should not be designed into or used on new programs. A limited number of new or refurbished obsolete products are sometimes available. Obsolete products have a limited 90 day warranty.
